Carlos Zambrano won the 2008 Silver Slugger Award for the top hitting pitcher in the Major Leagues. Zambrano hit .337 with 4 home runs and 14 RBI’s. Zambrano hit in 13 straight games at one point during the season, the longest hitting streak in MLB since Wilbur Cooper had a 15-game hitting streak way back in 1924. Zambrano also became the 1st pitcher in MLB history to have an RBI in 8 straight starts when he did that during the months of June and July. This is Zambrano’s 2nd Silver Slugger Award (he won in 2006).
