The Cubs road woes continued as they fell to the Marlins 5-2 in Florida, falling to 21-28 on the road during the 2009 MLB schedule. Carlos Marmol took the loss, giving up 3 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th inning with the game tied at 2. Rich Harden had pitched 5 solid innings, giving up just 2 ER while striking out 11. The Cubs were held to just 7 hits and 2 runs after scoring 12 runs in each of the last 2 games. Jake Fox accounted for the Cubs onoly runs of the game with a 2-run game-tying home run in the 7th inning.
The Cubs started the big 10-game road trip with a 54-46 record and a 1/2 game lead over the Cardinals for 1st place in the NL central. After 2 more games in Florida, the Cubs play 3 against the Reds in Cincinnati and 4 against the Rockies in Colorado.
