Cubs Invite Braden Looper to Spring Training 2011 – Wrigley Field 1/28/11

Posted on 28 January 2011 by Lou

The Chicago Cubs have agreed upon a minor league contract with right-handed pitcher Braden Looper.  Looper is 36 years old and he has a career 72-65 record with 103 saves.  Looper has appeared in 670 MLB games over 12 seasons and he has made 97 starts.  Looper last pitched at the major league level in 2009 when he went 14-7 with a 5.22 ERA with the Milwaukee Brewers.  It’s clear that the Cubs are just looking for players to eat some innings during the long spring training session in Mesa, Arizona.  Let’s hope that Looper is healthy and somewhat effective so that we don’t have to push other pitchers too much in February and March.  We’ll keep you posted with how everything develops…
