WOW – you can’t get much worse than Carlos Silva’s 2nd outing of the spring.  EIGHT (8) earned runs on 10 hits and he couldn’t even get out of the 3rd inning.  After blowing up in the 1st inning last week when the Cubs committed 3 runs in that 1st inning which put Silva in a 6-0 hole, Silva didn’t respond well today.  Silva’s ERA now stands at 29.70 – ouch.

James Russell added to the Cubs woes by giving up 3 ER (4 runs total) on 6 hits in his 3 innings of work.  He did have 2 K’s but his spring ERA ballooned to 10.80.

After falling behind 12-2 after 5 1/2 innings, Cubs prospects rallied the team to a big come-from-behind win.  The Cubs scored 7 runs in the 6th inning, 4 runs in the 8th inning and then won it in the 9th inning on a Bryan LaHair single.  It was his 2nd walk-off hit in as many days.

The Cubs are now 4-6 on the spring.
