Matt Garza was please with his performance even though the Cubs ended up losing to the Seattle Mariners 5-3. Garza worked 4 innings and allowed just 1 ER on 3 hits and 2 walks. Garza had much better control of his pitches and was able to rack up 3 K’s in the progress. For Garza, working on technique and building arm strength is the key to a successful spring training and things are now moving in the right direction after a few shaky starts. Look for Garza to pitch at least 5 innings in his next spring start.
With the loss, the Cubs fell to 8-11 on the spring.
