Cubs Corner

The Chicago Cubs are a professional baseball team that plays in the Central Division of the National League of Major League Baseball. The Cubs are 1 of 2 professional baseball teams in the city of Chicago, the other being the White Sox of the Central Division of the American League of MLB.
The Cubs have won 2 World Series Championships – neither within the last 100 years – no joke. The Cubs won back-to-back World Series in 1907 (4 games to 0 over the Detroit Tigers) and in 1908 (4 games to 1 over the Detroit Tigers). The Cubs even played in the 1905 World Series against the Chicago White Sox in a crosstown matchup – 3 World Series appearances in 3 years?! – but came away empty-handed with a 4 games to 2 loss. Since the 1908 World Series Championship, the Cubs actually made 7 other World Series appearances – in 1910 against the Philadelphia Athletics (4-1 loss); in 1918 against the Boston Red Sox (4-2 loss); in 1929 against the Philadelphia Athletics (4-1 loss); in 1932 against the New York Yankees (4-0 loss); in 1935 against the Detroit Tigers (4-2 loss); in 1938 against the New York Yankees (4-0 loss); and in 1932 against the Detroit Tigers (4-3 loss). But they never were able to re-capture the glory years of 1907 and 1908. 100 years later, Cubs players and fans alike are still desperate for that next World Series Championship…
